Our Story

Back in the 1926, the first surf board maker in Santa Monica, Tom Blake and Sam Reid decided to find a good surf break near home. It was on this trip that they first surfed at Malibu Surfrider Beach, thus making Malibu the epicenter of surfing for Southern California and the rest of the Americas.

A fish taco stand opened in 1979 across from Topanga Surfrider Beach serving honest seafood to the local surfers. The stand quickly became a landmark nobody could resist.

We are still incredibly thankful for the firemen who have saved the Reel Inn during the fire of 1992, when the fire burnt from the valley to the beach. They continue to be our friends and faithful protectors

Since the beginning, fresh caught fish arrives daily, and it’s still the same today.
